I am currently using a
black Slingerland
drum kit consisting of :
- One 22’’ bass
drum driven by a Gilbraltar double pedal (the Intruder) with felt
covered wooden beaters.
- Slingerland metal
5’’ snare drum
- 8”, 10”, 13”,
14” and 17” toms
- Two cowbells
- 18” Zildjian
crash cymbal
- 18” Zildjian
crash/ride cymbal
- 18” Paiste
crash/ride cymbal
- 22” Zildjian
ride cymbal
- 10” Instanbul
Splash rock cymbal
- 14” Zildjian
hi-hat cymbals
I play with Dave
Weckl signature sticks. Drum skins are Aquarian. In addition, I
use Audio-Technica drum microphones on the toms and snare, but use
the Alesis D4 with trigger to mic up the bass drum. I feel that the
Alesis gives me more options when it comes to bass drum sounds than
a microphone. I do not like to use triggers on the other drums as it
limits your dynamic range and feel when playing. Microphones are a much
better option.
My influences on the
drums are many, such as :
- Dave Weckl (how
did you guess?)
- Simon Phillips
- Jeff Porcaro
- Terry Bozzio
- Don Brewer (I
think he drummed the most melodic drum solo ever with TNUC)
- Ian Paice
- John Bonham
- Dave Holland
(Trapeze)
And many more……..
